Damian Vega as the legendary Broadway star William Gillette, known for playing Sherlock Holmes.

Gillette was real, but here the playwright has made him into a character in the comedy "Ken Ludwig's The Game's Afoot; Or Holmes for the Holidays." Ready for a hilarious whodunit? Set during the Christmas holidays in 1936, “The Game’s Afoot” takes us into the Connecticut castle of Broadway star William Gillette (Damian Vega), widely renowned for his stage turns as Sherlock Holmes. The weekend party is all fun and games until one of the guests gets murdered, and Gillette realizes he’ll have to play Sherlock for real. Think of the show as “Blithe Spirit” meets “The Hollow” — and we’re thrilled to have “Blithe Spirit” director Mark Anderson Phillips at the helm! The show runs Nov. 16-Dec. 17 at City Lights Theater Company, 529 S. Second St., downtown San Jose. Details and tickets at cltc.org/games-afoot. “The Game’s Afoot” is generously supported by Producer Charlie McCollum and Producer Clint Moore, and by Season Producers Nancy B. Coleman & Paul M. Resch.
